Like Many Construction companies we talk to, J Fletchers where managing their job costing and contract management by operating through excel, email, sage job costing & sage line 50, manual day books.  Mandy Ryder is Fletchers HR & Technical Services Advisor and she tells us of the lengthy process of inputting and how this method of operating was open to inaccuracies due to user error.  Mandy also found that collating data to report on different aspects of the company was never easy and  reporting operating before implementing Construction Manager, and now Maintenance Manager.

J Fletcher have been customers of JNC since nearly the beginning! Initially using our CIS software to deal with applications for subcontractors. As the company grew so did the need for a software to deal with the increasing work load. J Fletcher then introduced Construction Manager.

Construction Manager is designed to simplify the input of all contract management needs. Construction Manager deals with all aspects of Job costing, from applications and retentions, to purchase orders and subcontractor and employee time sheets. And all information is relayed to Sage 50 and Sage Payroll.

J Fletcher where initially drawn to the Construction Manager because of the similarity of the software with Sage Job Cost. They wanted something that would be recognisable and easy to adapt to.

In 2018 J Fletcher also purchased Maintenance Manager to Integrate with Construction Manager. This eradicated the need for spreadsheets to organise small works. Mandy tells us ‘maintenance Manager has given us more clarity on costs and instant information on the works carried out along with easier reporting’

Mandy mentioned how Construction Manager and Maintenance Manager have significantly benefited the team at J Fletcher ‘We can update clients in fairly real time and the daywork sheets are loaded onto the system from the engineers tablets which along with being able to store quotes etc against the job has helped with time management’

As most companies will appreciate, changing any process within the company can be a daunting experience for staff. However once employees understand the software and can see the amount of time they save and the advantages to field engineers using a mobile app to submit paper work. We have found that most new people using either the Construction Manager or Maintenance Manager software quickly absorb this new way of working and elude the lengthy process of filling our spreadsheets. We asked Mandy how J Fletcher Employees have adapted to the software ‘Slowly & tentatively but we are confident this is improving with all engineers now using the tablets to log the works, we just need to get the mandatory certificates on to complete the process.

JNC have provided the company with the resources to improve our reactive reporting enabling us to help our clients, engineers & management team with improved control & ensure costs & works carried out are now available to enable us to update our clients daily. I now believe that we couldn’t manage without this software especially the mobile maintenance side as it has freed up so many issues we had previously with manual PO’s, daywork sheets etc. going forward we hope to integrate all our timesheets, PPM and certificates so that we can use the system available to its full capacity.
